CellCount™ Cell Counting Kit-8 utilizes a water-soluble tetrazolium salt to measure cell viability in a non-radioactive, colorimetric assay. The reagent offers excellent stability and low cytotoxicity, making CCK-8 an ideal choice for cell proliferation and cytotoxicity studies.

The kit is available in two formats: a ready-to-use solution (CC02) and a lyophilized powder (CC03) for enhanced storage flexibility.

Principle of the MTT Assay

The CCK-8 assay utilizes WTS-8, a high-purity, water-soluble tetrazolium salt that reacts with intracellular dehydrogenases in viable cells. This redox reaction reduces WTS-8 to an orange-colored formazan product, which is directly soluble in the culture medium. The amount of formazan generated is proportional to the number of living cells and can be quantitatively measured by absorbance at 450 nm.

If using CCK-8 powder (#CC03-S / CC03-01 / CC03-10), please dissolve the powder in double-distilled water (ddH₂O) before performing the CCK-8 assay.
